Question : How do you know when to use "там" or "туда"? When is each appropriate? I have heard each used in many examples, sentences, etc... but I still can't tell when to use which. Can anyone shed some light on this confusing subject? Thanks!
Answer 1 : "туда" means more "to there", as an accusative, rather than "there"- it is more that in English we don't necessarily make this difference.

Answer 1 : "туда" means more "to there", as an accusative, rather than "there"- it is more that in English we don't necessarily make this difference.
For example, we can say "Where are you going to?" or the more natural "Where are you going?" In Russian, however, you need to indicate the direction, the movement of going towards a place. It is similar with the word for "where" (где) and "to where" (куда).
Some simple examples:
Где кот? Он там. Where is the cat? He's there.
Куда кот идёт? Он идёт туда. Where is the cat going (to)? He's going (to) there.
Куда кот идёт? Он идёт туда. Where is the cat going (to)? He's going (to) there.
